August dumps carry the end of something, so the order matters more than usual. Build the set so it fades rather than peaks.
- Start bright, end late. Midday and swimming at the front, low sun and long shadows at the back. The set should get warmer and quieter as it goes.
- Keep the empty frames. A folded towel, a table after everyone has left, the sea with nobody in it. August is the one month those photos earn their place.
- One sign of autumn. A single turning leaf, or a jumper over a swimsuit, does more for the mood than five more beach photos.
- Do not push the warmth in editing. Late August already has the colour, and adding more makes it look like a filter rather than a month.
