The actual problem with Huji Cam
Huji does one thing and does it properly. It models a 1998 single-use camera: hard on-camera flash that falls off into dark corners, coarse grain weighted into the shadows, and an orange date stamp burned into the frame. It is free, it opens fast, and there is nothing to configure.
The problems are all downstream of that.
- Ubiquity. The look has been used so widely that photos read as "shot on Huji" rather than as film. That is a real cost if you are building a feed with any identity.
- One look, no dials. There is essentially nothing to adjust. If the date stamp is wrong for the shot, that is the shot.

What each one is actually like
Dazz Cam. The obvious upgrade if variety is the goal. Several disposable variants rather than one, plus 35mm, CCD digicam, Super 8, VHS and instant, and video on some cameras. The catch is money: the free tier is thin and the good cameras are behind a subscription. Quality on the heavier looks is noticeably compressed compared with Huji's clean single render.
OldRoll. Better than Dazz at one specific thing, which is emulating identifiable cameras rather than vibes. If you want a photo that looks like it came off a particular 2004 point-and-shoot, this is the one. The interface pushes purchases hard and the catalogue is inconsistent, so try a few before committing.
NOMO. The opposite of Dazz. Few cameras, chosen carefully, presented cleanly. Its instant and half-frame modes are the best reason to install it. It will not give you a wall of options, which for some people is the point.
